Putting reading at the heart of learning
We’re delighted to see Rokesly featured in the Ham & High, celebrating the school’s commitment to reading — and the fantastic support of our PSA community.
Thanks to funds raised through this year’s PSA Readathon, every child had the opportunity to visit Pickled Pepper Books with their class, enjoy a story session and choose a book for their classroom.
Hundreds of new books were then purchased by the PSA and delivered to school, ready and waiting on classroom bookshelves for the new school year. Books chosen by Year 6 pupils will also be added to the school library for younger children to enjoy in years to come.
The initiative is part of Rokesly’s wider commitment to encouraging reading for pleasure, which includes author visits, well-stocked libraries and programmes such as Biblio-Buzz.
And that love of reading is having a real impact: this year, 86% of Year 6 pupils achieved the expected standard in reading in their SATs, with almost half achieving greater depth.

A huge thank you to everyone who sponsored a child, donated, volunteered or supported the Readathon. This is a brilliant example of where the money raised through PSA events goes — directly back into opportunities and resources for our children. ❤️📚
